The Area in short

Rectory and village Saint Martin

In our garden you can relax in the shade of the fruit trees, read a book or have a drink. You might see some squirrels there. At dusk you can sometimes find a barn owl.

In our village, Saint Martin du Limet, you will find a restaurant (Chez Ludo) you can picnic, fish, jog, play tennis or play a game of petanque (Jeu-de-Boule).

In the area

You can go hiking or cycling in the immediate vicinity of the rectory. The “voie verte” runs a kilometer away; an old railway line that has been transformed into a varied 47 km long nature trail. Nearby you can swim (la Rincerie natural pool or Craon pool), go horse riding or rent a canoe. In the village of Craon and the city of Laval you will find supermarkets, castles and restaurants. The famous and exceptional garden museum of Robert Tatin is located in the village of Cossé-le-Vivien. And don’t forget the nearby village of Châteu-Gontier, which lies on the Mayenne river. At La Mine Bleu you go 126 meters below ground and experience how the slate was mined for the slates that cover the roofs everywhere.

A day out

If you want to make a day out of it, you can go to the beaches of Saint Malo and the famous tidal island of Mont Saint Michèl. You can visit ancient cities such as Rennes and Dinan. Along the Loire, that flows through Nantes and Angers, you will find numerous castles. On the south coast of Brittany you will find rugged landscapes and picturesque harbors and in the interior there are various plains littered with menhirs (Obelix!). If you want to sniff culture or be entertained, you can visit the many museums and famous zoos (including Zoo de la Flèche). What you certainly do not want to miss with or without your (grand) children is the surprising theme park Puy de Fou. Futuroscope is an amusement park for the whole family, but is a bit further away.
